Commonly called Lion’s Head maple, ‘Shishigashira’ is widely cultivated for its use as a small specimen type plant or for its use in bonsai. Its leaves are curled and bunched together, forming tightly packed on the stems. In spring, the leaves emerge a bright green and become crinkled, adding to the effect. In summer, the leaves will fade to a darker green and hold up well to hot conditions and full sun exposure. This cultivar is slow growing.
